Diophantine approximation with primes and powers of two
We investigate the values taken by real linear combinations of two primes and a bounded number of powers of two. Under certain conditions, we are able to demonstrate that these values can be made arbitrarily close to any real number by taking sufficiently many powers of two.

Indeed, on putting u = 2/i 1 and v = 2m 3, we see at once that Theorem 1 follows from the following result. THEOREM 2. The only (u, v) e Z with ...

متن کاملAbout a Diophantine Equation
In this paper we study the Diophantine equation x −6xy +5y = 16Fn−1Fn+1, where (Fn) n≥0 is the Fibonacci sequence and we find a class of such equations having solutions which are determined.

This article centres around the contributions of the author and therefore, it is confined to topics where the author has worked. Between these topics there are connections and we explain them by a result of Liouville in 1844 that for an algebraic number α of degree n ≥ 2, there exists c > 0 depending only on α such that | α− p q |> c qn for all rational numbers p q with q > 0. This inequality i...
